Higher Education Commission has uploaded the list of 141 universities eligible for PM Laptop Scheme.

Eligibility Criteria for PM Laptop Scheme 2023

PM Laptop Scheme is open to students registered within the prescribed program period given below:

  • students will be studying public sector universities OR degree awarding institutions recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), except distance learning programmes.
  • students enrolled Ph.D., MS, MPhil, or equivalent 18-year program, bachelor’s degree program 4 or 5 year periodor MBA programs of various duration are eligible to apply.

Students ineligible for PM Laptop Scheme:

Certain categories of students will not be eligible for laptops under this scheme, including:

  1. students enrolled private sector Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
  2. Students enrolled in public post-secondary and degree-granting institutions and affiliated institutions.
  3. People who have previously received a laptop through a federal or provincial government program.
  4. Foreign nationals, except AJK students.
  5. Those who have not applied online or whose application has not been received on the online portal.
  6. Students are unable to provide the necessary documents and evidence of their academic status.
  7. Any selected student who has graduated from their degree program before receiving their laptop.

Criteria for selection of students for PM Laptop Scheme

Students will be selected for PM Laptop Scheme 2023 on the basis of the following criteria:

    • Students must apply online through the HEC portal before a specified deadline.
    • An automated system will filter applications to determine eligibility.
    • The Focal Person for each department will verify specific data points including name, CNIC, department, degree level and final exam percentage/CGPA.
    • Any discrepancies in student data will be identified by the Focal Person using institution records or information provided by the student.
    • The focal person will approve, reject or make necessary corrections to the applications within a stipulated time frame.
    • Each institute will receive a pre-determined quota of laptops based on eligibility and qualification criteria. PM Laptop Scheme
  • After the verification deadline of HEC, an automated system will generate the provisional merit list for each university.
  • These lists will be shared with the institutions for cross-verification within 15 days.
  • Upon removing any discrepancies, HEC will finalize the merit lists and share them with the respective institutions.
  • Every institution is required to publicly display the final merit list and the timeline for laptop distribution.
  • The final merit list will also be published on an online portal for public viewing.

The laptops will be distributed to the selected students during an official function at their respective universities. Students must sign a receipt when they receive their laptop.
